Wonder Time is an enrichment program for homeschoolers between the ages of 6 to 9 years of age. Wonder Time is geared towards developing independent study, time management and other valuable skills to prepare students for future success. Each day will include multi-disciplinary studies but will feature a main project/study based upon the subject matter for that day. Example: Monday’s Art Around the World may feature a Frida Kahlo day with a daily reading, a science activity on color spectrums, a cultural study of Mexico, and an art technique based on Kahlo’s painting style. We also are committed to working with each family’s home curriculum and will customize individual assignments according to the curriculum and abilities of each child.
Wondertime afternoon classes are open to all homeschool children, including non-members, just use the links below to register via RecDesk. The cost of classes varies depending on your membership status and level. See membership for more information. Click on DFS Fall 2017 Week at a Glance for an overview of classes at all levels (Durham location).
Quarter 1 Class Schedule
Less formal than our classes, DFS Clubs are a fun way for your family to enjoy and spend time with other homeschool families. Families with children aged 5-19 are welcome to participate unless an age range has been specified.
Lunch Supervision and Care
All families are welcome to stay for all-school lunch from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. There is an additional cost of $10 per day per month for supervised care during lunchtime for Discovery students if a parent is not on-site, which must be added to your account at the time of registration (there is no drop-in lunch coverage). For example, if you need lunch coverage on Mondays and Tuesdays, your fee is an additional $20 per month.
Tutoring in particular subjects may be available to members depending on teacher interest and availability. To get the latest information about tutoring, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
