Classes for Parents

Parent Professional Development classes are open for registration to all adults in the community. You do not need to have a membership with Dimensions Family School or be currently homeschooling to register for these classes, though members receive discounts.  Prospective DFS families and parents that are considering homeschooling are warmly encouraged to sign up.

Other events that are open to both members and the greater homeschool community can be found on our Community Events page.

Who Teaches These Classes?

Professional development is usually taught by DFS founder and Executive Director, Charlotte Dungan. She has a Master of Education degree in Learning and Teaching from Harvard University and an undergraduate degree in Liberal Arts for Educators.  She has been working in educational settings since 2006.  If another instructor is leading a class, it will be clearly labeled with a biography.

How Much Do Adult Classes Cost?

Full members take DFS Parent Professional Development classes for free.  Program members receive discounted pricing and community members pay full price.  Costs are listed on the registration page and vary based on the content and length of the class.

Can I Bring My Spouse or Partner?

Yes.  There is a discounted rate for parents that attend together.

Do I Need to Sign Up?

Pre-registration is required to ensure that we have enough seats, space and materials.  No refunds are available for class registrations unless a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, and no transfers to another class are available within 72 hours of the class start time.

Do You Offer Childcare?

While we do not currently offer childcare during Parent Professional Development classes, we do have some wonderful DFS teens that may be willing to come in and play with your youngsters in the adjacent rooms (with age-appropriate toys) for a small fee.  Please contact us if you have a childcare need for a particular class.

I Am Nursing My Baby. Can My Little One Attend with Me?

Yes, your nursing infant is welcome to attend with you.  DFS supports breastfeeding mothers.  If you need to step out for a few moments with a fussy baby, we will have an adjacent room available.  We also offer a changing table in each of the restrooms and a glider in our common area.

Will There Be Classes for Topics Not Listed?

DFS is happy to create new classes and workshops for parents upon request, including securing appropriate teachers when needed. Please make a request!
